Tdog’s Best Of 2009 Supermoto Video
I Got major Cabin Fever with this bike Snow Storm. So, I put together a Best of Video from 2009. I did 6 SMJ Local Rides, from Deleware to South Carolina and inbetween. I have to thank all the fellas that put the rides together, the locations were great, and the people that came out to each ride were all stand-up Supermoto Junkies….. So check out the Video (it’s a bit long, but plenty of good times) and see if you made the Best Of Film……:arsenal:thumbup: -

‘05 KX250F supermoto build
New to the forum and supermoto in general so I figured I’d introduce myself and document my build at the same time. I’ve raced MX on and off for 15+ years and even did some competitive stunt riding for a few years but I have zero road racing and supermoto experience so I’m looking forward to a new challenge. On to the build…Starting with an ‘05 KX250F
Mods so far include:
Stiffer springs front/rear
Pro Circuit triple clamps
Renthal fat bars
Excel 17" wheels and hubs
Braking 320mm rotor
Nissin 4 piston caliper
SS brake line
Infinity Carbon front sprocket guard
Infinity Carbon rear shock guard
Infinity Carbon header guard
Annodized billet bling here and thereStill to come:
Carbon Fiber fork guards, engine guards, frame guards, rear disc guard, chain guide, rear caliper guard, bike bonz catch can, hand guards, sumo front fender, new chain/sprockets, exhaust, silicone radiator hoses, powdercoat frame/swingarm
I’ll post up new/better pics as more work is done. :arsenal

Monday, May 10th — Deal’s Gap RESORT, Supermoto Day, Breakfast & Ride
MONDAY, May 10th —- at 9:00am. Supermoto Breakfast & Gap run.Lets meet for breakfast at the Gas Station @ 9:00am….. and ride the Gap afterwards
It has recently come to my attention that there are going to be multiple groups at the Gap during the 1st and 2nd week of May. Within these groups — there are many supermoto’s. This is an attempt to rally up all these various groups for one massive get-together.
- Homeland Sportbikes ——– 4 KTM 625’s
- WMRiders, Grand Rapids, MI —— 2 CRF’s, 1 SXV
- Whatever SMJ members we can rally up, there are many already planning on these datesIf you are a local —- maybe after an hour or so of good Gap runs — someone would be willing to guide a sumo ONLY tour of some other roads?
Post up!

Roadracer looking to get into Supermoto
So…I raced an SV with the AFM last season, and am looking to get into supermoto racing this year. What’s recommended to start with? I have no off road experience, and would ideally like something that I could ride both on the supermoto track and then swap wheels for offroad riding. Should I go with the 450 or would that be a deathwish as someone without any experience with dirt/jumping/etc? Would an older 250 be fine? Which models should I be looking at? Ideally, I’d like something plated so that I could do a little light on-road riding for setup and testing purposes as well, but if I can’t, that’s not the end of the world.
Thanks for any help.

New to the Supermoto world
Whats up all supermoto fans and members. Just started getting into supermoto, Ive been an avid supercross, motocross and moto gp fan since I was a kid and always will be and love tearing it up on my dirt bike and sportbike, but would also like to add supermoto into that mix cause it seems like another awsome sport and anything on motorcycles I want a piece of it. Hopefuly I can get into it soon, and hopefuly will find some amateur races to enter, as I have with both my dirt and sport bike, love tearing up the track. I plan on buying a supermoto bike to have as well as my other bikes and plan to really start following the sport. As metioned before i dont really no much about supermoto so if anyone wants to throw anything my way feel free. -
Quasimoto to Supermoto conversion time
Hi All,I’ve been lurking for a while trying to absorb info but there’s thousands of posts…could I trouble you for a brain dump? It’s time to step my ride up a notch. I have an ‘06 450EXC with shamefully low miles on it (1,600). I wasn’t getting much fun out of it in the dirt so I made it street legal. Getting a little more use out of it now. Stock 21"/18" rims with IRC GP110 DOT rubber. The rest of the bike is stock except for protection stuff (bark busters, skid plate, etc.). It’s fun this way but not quite fun enough.
I "need" more "Go", I’d like more "Stop" and I’d like more "Lean". I’m thinking 540kit, 17" rims w/ cush rear (probably 4.25" to avoid clearance problems) and oversized single rotor.
Street fun only. I’ll never race. Cost is a consideration.
Any quick advice on wheel brands? Brake solutions? Soft street rubber?
Thanks in advance.

A new era in supermoto fashion has arrived…
I can’t believe no one has done this before. Am I a pioneer with the "moto mullet" or have one of you guys seen/done this before???In all honesty, I have to give alohar1 credit, it was the mulletjunkies thread that inspired the moto mullet. I couldn’t participate because of work regulations and self respect. haha …but I still should have entered with this just for a few laughs.
What do you guys think?
…I’m going to make a little youtube video as soon as my buddy and I get enough footage featuring the mullet. Here’s a little preview. All of the clips are from just from between my house and class so nothing too crazy yet… give it a few sunny weekends and it will be done.

Yet another soon to be supermoto convert has arrived!
Hey Supermoto Junkies, my name is Rob and I stumbled on to this great little site in 2007 with the help of an acquaintance, Skr00zloose. I would have registered then, but shortly after I found the website I tore the ligaments in my left knee and separated my right shoulder in a horrific sporting accident (not powersports related).Anyways though, I am from Virginia, have been riding on the street for 4 years, and had a few years of off-road experience before that. Although I am 22 I have had the pleasure of owning a 2006 Suzuki GS500, a 1994 RF600, a 1998 Suzuki RM125, and a 1987 Kawi ZX750R, but I didn’t like the aesthetics of the sportbikes, and was too naive at the time to convert the 125. I also worked at a small bike shop for a small period of time and garnered a little bit of knowledge and even more of a love for my two-wheel toys.
Sometime in the near future I plan on purchasing a supermoto for commuting purposes (20 miles round trip and everywhere I go is on the same route) or converting an off-road bike, but until I have the funds to get back on a bike I decided to register here and learn the best course of action through countless hours of searching the forums.

i need pics of a street bike rim on a supermoto
so i found out my firblade rims won’t work… cause i don’t have a good selection of tires that are 16′ in the front :rant:anyways, so before i take them back to my buddy to switch them out for the modern 3blade type that are on most sportbikes now adays, im not quite sure i like the look (my personal preference i just hate the 3blade look)…
so i was wondering if anyone had any pics of the 3blade rims off a sportbike that are now on a supermoto i could use as reference?
or maybe a good website that sells some good 16′ 120/70/r16 tires???

Supermoto T-shirts
I have been trying to think of a way to deal with this issue without rocking the boat, but I just can’t think of a good way. So I will be as vague as possible.I have a Shirt for our Community. It is a one-off design and they turned out great. (IMO) The original design was geared towards a different web-site (Supermoto Mania) but I have since changed the wording for the front so that it could just be Supermoto General. It is something I love to wear, and I wish more people had the opportunity to rock some one-off gear.
I feel like if we are friends and tend to send each other PM’s, what would it hurt to make my buddy a T-shirt.

What is the craziest thing you ever transported on your Supermoto?
My wife would always buy the expensive 20 lb small packages of dog food. Well, one summer evening a couple of months ago, we ran out of food, so I hopped on my 610SM to go to the local pet supply place. I saw the price difference between the 20 pound and 50 pound bag, and decided I had to have the 50 pound bag. No worries, I would just strap that big bag to the back of the bike and ride off like a cowboy carrying back a runaway bride.Well it did not take long to realize that wasn’t gonna work. God forbid I would return the 50 pounder and surrender to the 20 pounder. Nope, I just laid that big bag across my lap, and between me and the tank and rode home (1 mile). No issues whatsoever. The dog has not yet eaten its way through that 50 pounds yet

shopping 525 and 530 exc’s for supermoto conversion – questions
I’m shopping used 525 and 530 exc bikes for a supermoto conversion. In my research I’ve come across a few bikes but since it’s a conversion I’m aiming at the 07 and 08 models because I think the dirt miles take a toll on the finish and I’d prefer it to look as shiny as possible. At least at first.
Anyway, a guy sent me this crummy blurry photo and I noticed that the paint seems to have rubbed off the engine block. Looks like the place your boot would rub if you were using the rear brake.
Is this typical? Maybe that’s an ignorant question but my experience is with streetbikes. Plus almost all the bikes posted here are so mint that there’s no way for me to know what’s what. Guy gave no details about the bike – no hours/miles, incomplete list of mods (he referred to "many"), etc.
Here’s the photo he sent me:

And just for kicks, if you’re curious, here’s the clist advert:
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/mcy/1459978012.htmlI think the guy’s price is nuts because this bike is also not far from where I live and it’s brand new: http://www.cycletrader.com/find/list…0-EXC-93658563
Brand new isn’t necessarily desirable if you can find a bike that’s been treated well and modded right, but this guy is not doing much to sell me on that.
Any feedback much appreciated.
cheers,
