Some unique bikes from Japan
Just some interesting bikes from Japan. Don’t see many like them in North America. All kinds of 250’s with expensive looking exhausts and FCR’s.‘94 Honda CRM250

Honda AX-1 ???

Very clean Honda XR250R

This XR250 has some speedy bits

XR600

Suzuki RMX250

Some Kawasaki D-Trackers

This D-Tracker has a 292cc big bore and an FCR 33mm carb

This seat is definetely Japanese style

If anyone else has some uniquely Japanese SM pics… post away!

Renting Bikes in Europe
I have the chance to go to Munich, Germany this summer for study abroad with my school. The Mugello GP is scheduled for early June, and it looks like a really fun trip from Munich, through the Alps, and into Italy on a bike.Has anyone on here from the US ever rented a bike in Germany? I’d like to know some details about the experience:
1. I am 21 with an M class endorsement. Is there a limit as to the displacement of motorcycle that I can rent? (I am thinking a VFR800 or Multistrada)
2. Do I need some kind of Euro motorcycle license to ride over there?
3. Any places that you’d recommend to rent from in Munich?
4. Any advice on riding over there or places I should check out? I plan to go from Munich to Mugello by way of Stelvio pass and lots and lots of backroads.
5. Any other pertinent info I should know about riding in Europe?
Thanks!

British Columbia – Nolonger plating offroad specific bikes
Well it’s official. As of Sept 14, 2009 BC will nolonger register offroad specific bikes to be street legal.http://www.cvse.ca/vehicle_saftey_an…otorcycles.pdf
Re: Motorcycle Inspections
Commercial Vehicle Safety & Enforcement is aware of provincial vehicle inspections being conducted on manufactured Restricted Use Motorcycles (RUM). These vehicles are identified as vehicle type ?RUM? on the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) compliance label. These vehicles are manufactured and intended STRICTLY FOR OFF HIGHWAY USE and do not meet applicable standards for operation as highway vehicles.
The BC Vehicle Inspection Manual criterion for the inspection of Motorcycles is only applicable to on highway use vehicles. This criterion does not apply to a vehicle type RUM, all-terrain, three wheeled (TWV), or competition regardless of any component changes, additions or modifications. These vehicle types are not acceptable for inspection. Any vehicle originally manufactured as one of these types and subsequently modified then submitted for the purpose of inspection where the compliance label is missing, altered or illegible must also be rejected.
A compliantly manufactured motorcycle will display a vehicle type ?MC? (motorcycle), ?TRI? (motor tricycle), ?LSM? (limited speed motorcycle) or ?EMC? (enclosed motorcycle) on the CMVSS label with an indication that it is intended for highway use. These manufactured vehicles are acceptable for inspection and must meet all applicable standards prior to the issuance of a certificate of approval decal.
Vehicles, such as manufactured power assisted bicycles ? referred to provincially as motor assisted cycles -, or any bicycle modified or equipped with gas or electric motor are not acceptable for inspection.
ICBC will no longer accept any new registration applications for restricted use motorcycles.
For the purpose of inspection of a non-manufactured motorcycle, the vehicle MUST clearly meet the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act Regulation definition of a ?ubilt? vehicle which means:
?a vehicle that does not resemble the vehicle from which its components were taken and that
(a) was built, and may have been built at home for personal use, by an individual,
(b) is used as a private passenger motor vehicle or a commercial motor vehicle, and
(c) has a gross vehicle weight of not more than 5000 kg. -

Selling two bikes
If anyone is interested I am selling my 05 510SMR and my 03 SV650S. Both come with extras and are posted up on craigslist in tucson, arizona. Not wanting to ship so I am looking for buyers in Arizona. 510 has 770 miles and the Suzook has 7700. Selling to thin the herd cuz I just bought a GSXR750 after a midlife crisis made me realize I have WAY to many toys! PM me or reply to the ad if interested, cheers. -
Looking at a few bikes
So I just sold my 05 GSXR600, and am REALLY debating getting another bike. I sold it to put the money into my Ranger which I have started as a desert project, but I can’t stop looking at supermoto bikes…I’ve looked at a ton of bikes and have narrowed it down the the DRZ, or several KTM’s…
I really like the simplicity and availability of parts of the DRZ, but I also love the KTM’s. I’ve been looking at the KTM 450’s, and I’m pretty sure I would be very satisfied with one as a supermoto.
I’m not real familiar with KTM, but is there a factory 450 that is street legal? I’ve seen lots of conversions, but not one factory. Like I said, I’m not THAT familiar with them. I don’t like the idea of a kick start for a daily commuter though, and that’s what I’m seeing a lot of. Seems like I couldn’t really leave the bike unattended AT ALL as it would be a cinch to steal… Anyone have a thought on the KTM’s? I like the power of the 450’s.
I thought there would be a lot more used supermotos in socal, but it’s actually been kinda hard to find a good variety. Especially the KTM’s.
Any input would be great!
Thanks,
Josh
