Hey everyone, I’m trying to get this ’03 xr80r of mine going and someday maybe I’ll be able to share useful information. In the meantime, I’ve got a problem.

I just put in a used ’98 motor off ebay. :hmmm:

"Runs great! Just inspected! All new seals and gaskets!"

Well it does run well, nice and smooth, however something is not right with the shifting. There is obvious resistance against the shifter, and I can only really get 1st, N, and 2nd. After pulling off the clutch cover and looking for obvious problems, the shifter clicks nice and smooth all the way to 5th and back down again. I put the clutch cover back on and same problem. So then I backed off the cover bolts a turn or two just to see if this was a tightening issue, no dice.

I’ve already got sumo wheels coming in and I’m ready to join your ranks. Anyone have a clue what’s going on here?
