Helmet Cam Pics from Supermoto Junkie
Well it was my first run with the new Go Pro helmet cam. I screwed up the video run by not being familiar enough with the camera…..oh well I’ll get it eventually. We were making our run home and ran into Balm426 out trying out the new beemer. I’m stoked with the new Go Pro. On to the pics.He may have bought a new beemer, but he’s still a tard guy at heart.

Balm waved us by, and I waved RJ into the lead so I could get him on camera.

Warning, fun stuff ahead :arsenal

The rock cliffs here will bite back if you aren’t paying attention. :infrandom

My favorite bike shop. How many places can you name that still leave you a rocking chair out front, even when they’re closed?

This guy looks like he’s had a good day huh?

gettin tarded on the dunes from Supermoto Junkie
Has anyone else taken their tard out to the dunes? I went to Pismo yesterday on my KTM, it was an interesting experience to say the least. Had to stay way back for it to be anywhere near stable, which meant that the front tire washed out very easily when I tried to turn. I let a friend ride it and it seemed to jump pretty well though, he thought it was decent aside from how tired your arms get. -

Super Motard maybe for sale? from Supermoto Junkie
[IMG]
[/IMG]
Hey guys this is just up for discussion right now so I’m looking for your opinions.
Here’s the deal, I’ve got a 2001 Honda XR650R that is right now in track mode. I have had it road ready and licensed and inspected and it can be put back in that condition in short order. I also have complete off road attire for it hanging on the wall in my garage and it can be fully ready for offroad in a matter of a couple of hours.
This bike has been heavily modified in just about every manner it can be. In short I’ve had the motor rebuilt by a race motor builder in Colorado (Bare Bones Racing) who specializes in this motor and races them him self. It was bored to 680cc, nicklesilled cylinder, light weight Ross high compression piston. I’m running a Edlebrock pumper carb which makes this motor run like clock work. There has never been anything wrong with the motor or any of the rest of the bike for that matter. I can assure you it will out run just about any other XR650 out there and most motards near it’s size.
I’m just not sure whether to strip it down and put it back into its offroad clothes and then sell all the motard stuff separate or to sell it like it is and sell the offroad stuff separate or sell it all together in one package.
Let me know your thoughts and interests. Then maybe I’ll decide how to sell it.
Thanks,
Jim -
New sumo rider from Ct. from Supermoto Junkie
Hey guys, been lurking on this site for about a year now and finally pulled the trigger on a ’08 Husky 510smr. I can’t wait to ride it but I won’t be able to pick it up till next weekend:damn:! I’m having the power up kit installed before I pick it up so I don’t have any driveability issues with it ie: stalling, surging or whatever else. I haven’t had a bike for about 16 years but hopefully it comes back to me quickly! Question for you guys, does anyone here have a pic of an IMS 3 gallon tank on a 510? I’m a little concerned about fuel range with the stock 2 gallon tank on longer rides.Dan

Help with catch can from Supermoto Junkie
Fellow junkies
My Tard is nearing completion and Im wondering where the best location for a catch can would be on my 08 CRF.
Anyone here have a brilliant scheme thought up and applied, so I can copy it, and save myself untold grief trying to make the hoses go somewhere that fit nice ?
Any ideas or pics are appreciated.Mark

Anyone knows anything about those mirrors? from Supermoto Junkie
Hey people
I recently saw those mirrors on some parked kawi naked
I think those could look so great on a pimped sumo, with acerbis vision headlight etc
But the owner wasn’t around and i can’t figure them out
any ideas? and what do you think
they’re best looking mirrors i’ve seen so far, dunno about the performance tho

SME sliders, ran into problem from Supermoto Junkie
Hey guys,So I figured I’d try to save some $$$ and make my own axle sliders for my 2008 DRZ400SM. I bought just the slider pucks from Supermoto Engineering and got the nuts/washers/threaded rod and went to work. Cut the rods to what seemed like the right length, started installing them and noticed that the left side front and right side rear stuck out much further than the opposite sides. I know it was because of the axle nuts. I checked the stock ones and noticed that they are cut away to fit so far over the axle nuts so that they stick out equally on each side.
I was concerned because on one side the slider would be useless in the front, but would work great in the back (say right side) and the opposite for the other side. Without spacing it out somehow you have a slider on each side of the bike that really wouldn’t do any good.
So my question is if this is normal and I have to live with it? I thought about just getting the SME kit for the DRZ400SM but don’t know if it comes with the right off-set spacers and such to make it so each little puck sits out the right distance from the axle tubes. I have the pucks, so I figured they might just sell me a hardware kit with everything rather than make me buy the entire kit.
Just wondering what you guys think?
