  • New WRX Owner and SMJ Poster from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

    Hello All,
First want to thank everyone for all the great info here on this board. In my search to find the bike I wanted, I was able to read up on so many different takes on each bike and the aftermarket for each one.

In the end, I went with the Yamaha WR250X which was the one I really had my heart set on from the get go. Most people here are happy with theirs so it made the choice easier.

I wound up finding the perfect WRX online for sale by Forrest over at Wheeling Cycle Supply. It is basically a WRX with every part Forrest sells for it. Could not be happier, and Forrest was awesome to work with. The only down side…it is still cold and salty roads here in NY. So I have not ridden it yet. Soon though….soon. :)

  • New headlight from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

What do you think about my new trailtech X2 headlight? It is just the halogen 70 watt. It was a pain to get mounted on the WR. I think if I had a KTM it would have been much easier, due to the instructions looked like that was what it was intended for.

Haven’t road it at night yet, and it looks like I will have to modify it again with some sort of bracket to raise it up. Definately much brighter than the stock 35 watt. The brights didn’t get higher in the air but it did get wider.

    Anyone else using it?

  • Drz400sm Jetting from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

I just got rid of a r6 and my gsxr600 and bought my first sm. I bought the bike second hand, and when i did it had the 3×3 mod done to the airbox. This job was so porely done it looked like he cut it with a butter knife. So i cleaned it up and riveted some metal meshing over the top of the whole, looks really nice but at the end the whole was about 4×5 inches. I also put a k&n air filter in it. and the bikes has a full yosh exhaust. How do i know if i jetted the bike right and it is working to its full potential. any help or pointers would be great. thx

  • another boot thread – i'm torn from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

Please help me out! i always used to ride in skate shoes but after being in this forum awhile i realize its time to ride smarter. i mostly commute on my sm and hit trails once in a while on the weekend. do i wear a mx boot or a crotch rocket boot? mx boots are huge heavy and huge. yet they do offer the best protection. but i don’t want to wear them to the grocery store. crotch rocket boots are much more comfortable to me but is that stupid to wear them on a sm? does anyone else wear them? i want to invest my money wisely in a good pair of boots but just dont know what style. What do most of you wear? Post a pic if you like.

P.S. – i tried on the 50/50 and it felt great but doesn’t seem any better than a workboot. still unsure

  • Fuel light no worky from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

My "your almost outta fuel idiot" light stopped working on my ’08 SM450R. I barely got the bike fired up and to the gas station on the way home today. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Last year I was lucky and ran out right next to a gas station. I know the pump is getting all the tank has to offer cause this afternoon I put 1.96 gallons in it. Has anyone had this issue and were able to fix it? If so, please enlighten me.

  • CR 500 vs new cr's/crf's wheel/axel fit from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

Looking for some good info on the cr 500 hubs. Can I bolt up crf/newer cr 17" hubs/wheels to 500 chasis and back to 00 cr 250? What was changed? I understand my 500 has 32 spokes and newer hub has 36 spokes ?My problem is I only want to run 500 chasis for 1 year. My AF 00 250 frame will be done and I want to save money by using same wheels. I don’t want to buy 2 rear wheels/hubs.
    I have 97 cr 500 hubs,swingarm. 00 cr250 swing arm
And want to buy 00-02 cr crf 17" hubs/wheels

I also need some info on the type of lacing done. Goods vs Bads, types?
    Any info will help.
    Thanks

  • I got outside!!! from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

So here in IOWA, 65 today, snow is melted, sand everywhere, perfect for the tard. Dropped the battery back in it and put the plastics back on, took half day off and went riding. It was like the past 3 months had to be forgotten by getting the armor on and sliding in some sand. KICKASS got to ride. I work from home, so being outside felt new to me like I had not seen the sun in 4 years. only 1 pic though. The frozen like I went by.

  • Pitster Pro X4 Motard Need Rim help from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

So I need some new hoops on my X4 motard, my hooliganistic ways have left me with 2 bent rims. Side walks and curbs at a local park have gotten the best of me ha ha.

I want to go with at least 2.15 on the rear and 2.00 on the front. I’m thinking maybe a 2.5 on the rear. What do you think? A little rim width advise would be greatly appreciated.

I think the rims I need are up front KTM 65 and rear would be a KX 65 (I think).

  • Need help – new blinkers now wont start from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

Ok I bought a pair of rear blinkers (not LED, just small ones w/ two wires) & I think I blew a relay but don’t know which one. I looked at a parts finch but it looks like there are a couple different ones, I don’t know which one I should order or if that is even the problem. My bike just makes a clicking noise on the left side where the relays are located. Has this happened to any of you?

I’m basically a noob when it comes to electrical on bikes.

  • MAJOR PROBLEM…..Need advice…. from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

Ok, I need a little advice….I know this isn’t Supermoto related BUT, I’m sure at least a few of you guys have delt with things like this before. (you are bikers after all)
Here’s the deal, I’ve been single again for a while and , I hate to admit it but I’ve been doing the whole "Internet dating" thing pretty heavy and for the most part it’s been a pretty positive thing.
A few weeks ago I went out with this new girl It was our first date but we hit it off right off the bat she seemed like the "Total Package" She was a little thicker than I like and her face was maybe a 7 or 7.5 out of 10 But she more than made up for that with her personality And her willingness to please :hitit: (if you know what I mean)
To make a long story only slightly shorter We had a great time Bar hopping, got a bit sloshed :drunk: ,and I ended up taking her back to my place.
I know this will be the first question but NO, I DIDN’T USE A CONDOM.
Blaa, Blaa, Blaa I KNOW. But It’s over and I can’t do anything about it now.
Anyway, that was two weeks ago, and yesterday morning I noticed this little red sore on my member! At first I thought it might be a friction injury from a little overzealous masterbation but by that Afternoon I had two more!!!!! and it’s starting to "burn" when I take a leak!
WHAT THE F#%K DO I DO NOW???? Should I give it a few days to see if they just go away on their own? Or do I need to get something done NOW!?
This is a little embarassing, but, you guys have always had good advice for me in the past and since I REALLY don’t know many of you other than by screen name…..What can I lose?
This may be a useless request but REAL advice PLEASE! I don’t want my little guy to fall off while I’m trying to figure out what to do!!!

  • 690 Idiot Light Question from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

Heya . Since my little get off, the fuel idiot light doesn’t come on anymore when its @ xxx of a tank left.

The bulb is fine and @ POST (power on self test) it lights up like it should… but it just doesn’t light up when its getting low. This leads me to believe there is some procedure to "reset" it other then when you reset it @ the pump.

    any help appreciated!

  • The Un-Official SMR 450/510 Mod Thread from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

A lot of questions I’ve seen and have asked about different mods. From handguards to tail lights.

So hopefully we can get a nice mod list compiled for the 450/510 guys.

Here’s what I’ve come across so far that may be of some help. So all mods and how-to’s are welcome.

Power-Up Kits are one of the most common upgrade for the 450/510′s stalling issues due to coming from the factory super lean due to emissions. A lot of people talk about Hall’s-Cycles for the kits and best prices on them.

Please feel free to add anything. Anyone have a link where to buy swingarm and fork sliders. I think I’m going with white, if they make them.

Anyway hope this is a helpful thread and can grow to help the new guys and have a quick reference for mods.

  • My 690SM Dyno Run from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

Yesterday I took my bike to the local Dyno. I have put on a pair of slip-on’s and havent had it re-mapped yet but just wanted to see how she was running before the map. She got 56HP and 59NM. Dyno guy says she run rich at full throttle, and a little lean at half throttle, but he thinks its not too extreme either way, though if I had it Mapped correctly I could expcect to see nice gains. I cant post up (or see) pics at work so will ask a friend to post up the actual graphs. what you guys think? ;)

    Thanks Whippy :bike:

  • Back Firing from Supermoto Junkie

    Supermoto Junkie

    Hey,
ive got an Aprilia sxv 450, 07 model ive only done 1500km on it.
The starter went a day after i bought the bike, but the dealer replaced it for me.
After the first service my bikes been back firing heaps, nearly every gear!
It usually back fires when i ease off the throttle and go to accelerate again, is this normal? or is the bike running to rich?

Another prob is it seem to have no bottem end at all, feels like the bike almost wants to die?

Pls PLs some one give me advice???
